Product Information

The Skin Cancer Foundation has reported that depletion of Vitamin A in the skin by UV-A exposure may contribute to both photo aging and cancers of the skin. Given the reality of global warming, we believe our first line of defense is to protect the skin from the damaging effects of radiation. While it has not been adequately researched, we also believe the effects of chemically-based skin products interacting with UV-A and UV-B radiation is destructive on a cellular level, penetrating deeply into our skin and initiating oxidation processes at the cellular level. This can lead to pigmentation changes, accelerated skin wrinkling (from collagen damage), and irreversible skin damage. Sun Balm is specifically formulated as a 'skin' screen for day moisturization and skin protection from the damaging effects of UV radiation.

Sun Balm is an all-natural, 100% organic formulation that avoids the use of traditional 'sunscreen' ingredients and focuses on unrefined fruit and plant seed oils from tropical areas. Sun Balm is an ideal product for skin that is sensitive to the toxic chemicals and oxides used in traditional sunscreen products. Why do we focus on fruits and plants indigenous to tropical areas? Over generations, tropical fruit trees have adapted to high radiation levels from the intense sunshine. Their seeds all have high concentrations of triterpenes, antioxidants and natural sunscreens to protect future generations of these plants and trees in intense, hostile environments. When this oil is applied to human tissue, it reverses sun damage, accelerates healing, and facilitates skin regeneration. Apply lightly on a daily basis after cleansing the skin on all areas exposed to sun.
